We passed the VGP!
It was a very long and exciting two days of testing, but we did it! Anja passed the VGP with a Prize 3.
The two days started out with it pouring rain in the morning on our Blood track. We chose to do an overnight track. Anja handled it fantastically. There was no blood to be seen until after the wound bed. And as we started into the woods a deer moved off to the south crossing our track. Anja lifted to air scent the deer but resumed to tracking almost immediately. Then when we reached the wound bed a coyote busted from the brush about 10 feet from our track. It startled the two of us. It took me a few minutes to focus Anja again. She picked up the track and nailed it. We got a 4 in the overnight track!!! (4 is the best)
Then we moved right into some obedience. Healing on lead and healing off lead to the down stay with two shots. We did just fine on both of the exercises. We also completed the drive hunt. Next we headed to the rabbit drag and the independent forest search. Anja nailed both of them with a 4 in the drag, 4 in the manner and 4 in the search.
We then did the fox drag. Unfortunately, just after our drag was laid a coyote ran across it before we got there and Anja would not complete the task. So we automatically had a prize 3 at that point.
Next we did all of the water work. Anja showed her best work and received all 4s.
The duck drag was next along with the fox in the box. Anja complete each of these flawlessly. for scores of 4.
It was a long first day but we complete all of the forest work and all of the water work. The only things left for the second day were field work.
So on the second day we started with field searches. Anja showed the judges a very nice search and pointed flawlessly. She held very nice with only a step or 2 on the flush and a few more on the shot. I did need to give her a command at the shot. We also did our dead bird retrieve on land. This finished out our test.
